Resculpt your smile and return to a more confident you with Cosmetic & Restorative dental treatments!
Prosthodontics is the dental specialty that focuses on the diagnosis, planning, and execution of both cosmetic and restorative treatments. In essence, prosthodontists are architects – they create a comprehensive treatment plan and let the patient know what is possible.
The goal of prosthodontic treatment is to replace damaged or missing teeth with functional, natural-looking teeth that boost your confidence and enhance the look of your smile.
There are many reasons why someone might seek treatment from a prosthodontist, including:
- creation of partial or full sets of dentures
- desire to whiten the teeth or improve the aesthetics of the smile
- filling gaps created by one or more missing teeth
- interest in dental implants
A crown, or “cap”, covers the entire tooth’s surface, restoring it to its original shape and size to protect and strengthen a tooth that cannot be restored with fillings or other restorations. Crowns come in several different types of material, however, porcelain crowns are the most popular because they are tooth colored.
Reasons for crowns:
-
broken or fractured teeth
-
cosmetic enhancements
-
decayed teeth
-
fractured fillings
-
large fillings
-
tooth has a root canal
Dental implants are a great solution to replace missing teeth if you don’t want removable partial or complete dentures. Implants provide exceptional support and stability.
Implants act as artificial roots and teeth that are surgically placed into the jaw bone. The teeth attached to the implant is natural-looking, durable, and can often enhance your smile.
Reasons for dental implants:
-
replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth
-
resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space
-
restore chewing, speech, and digestion
-
restore or enhance facial tissues and a patient’s confident smile
-
support a bridge or denture, making it more secure and comfortable
A dental implant is a removable dental appliance that acts as a replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. There are two different types of dentures – complete and partial dentures. A partial denture is used to fill the spaces from missing teeth and prevents surrounding teeth from shifting. A complete denture is used when all teeth are missing.
Reasons for dentures:
-
complete denture – loss of all teeth in an arch
-
partial denture – loss of several teeth in an arch
-
enhancing smile and facial tissues
-
improving chewing, speaking, and digestion
A dental bridge is a non-removable (fixed) dental appliance used to replace missing teeth by literally “bridging” the gap. There are several different kinds of dental bridges; you and your dentist will discuss the best options for your specific case. The most popular is the “traditional bridge”, which consists of two crowns that go over anchoring teeth and are attached to artificial teeth.
Reasons for fixed dental bridges:
-
fill space of missing teeth
-
maintain facial shape
-
prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of position
-
restore chewing and speaking ability
-
restore or enhance your smile
-
upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance
Veneers are delicate sheets of tooth-colored porcelain materials that bind to the front surfaces of your teeth to regenerate the look of your natural teeth while also providing extra strength. Like most dental restorations, Veneers will eventually need to be replaced due to normal wear.
Reasons for Veneers:
-
to create a uniform, pearly-white smile
-
crooked teeth
-
misshapen teeth
-
severely stained or discolored teeth
-
fill unwanted or uneven spaces
-
word or chipped teeth
